The latest in Laser Diagnosis is an instrument called DIAGNOdent. The instrument created by the Kavo Company uses a laser to “detect” very small cavities hidden inside teeth at the earliest stages. With a 90% accuracy rating, DIAGNOdent will also help differentiate for the dentist which teeth are decaying and which teeth are merely stained. This eliminates guess work and ensures an early interception of decay, resulting in a smaller restoration and more comfortable visit.
